Our students' educational experience is at the heart of every decision we make at King-Chavez Neighborhood of Schools. That's one of many reasons we're proud to share some exciting upcoming changes to our school community!
Blue School and Preparatory Academy
As many of you know, we have already merged Primary and Arts & Athletics Academies. Starting in the 2025-26 school year, King-Chavez Preparatory Academy will move to the Blue School and become part of a united campus serving grades TK-8! A TK-8 campus will create a more cohesive learning environment for our students, while also providing families who have multiple KC students the convenience of a single enrollment and pick-up/drop off location. We're thrilled that Gerry Guevara will be Principal for the combined schools!
High School
Additionally, we're proud to announce that King-Chavez Community High School will move to the Preparatory building in 2025, located at 500 30th St, San Diego, CA 92102. Moving the high school back into our neighborhood will reduce commuting times for our students. They will be able to walk to school and they will also have access to our turf field, track, basketball courts and auditorium.
Academy of Excellence
The campus remodel is progressing and will be complete next year! Students will enjoy updated facilities while maintaining the small-school environment that makes KC so special.
