(ASES/ASSETS) Before and After-School Programs

King-Chavez Neighborhood of Schools is committed to providing our students with a safe and educationally enriching environment during non-school hours. Our After School Education and Safety (ASES) and After School Safety and Enrichment for Teens (ASSETs) programs provide additional academic and enrichment opportunities, as well as social experiences in an environment that supports building positive relationships. There is NO cost for students to participate. The programs are funded by state grants and have attendance requirements for participating students.

It is the intent of the Education Code that participating students will attend this program regularly for the full program time (some exclusions apply; appropriate release form(s) must be completed and on file). First priority shall go to pupils who are identified by the program as homeless youth, as defined by the federal McKinney-Vento homeless Assistance Act (42 U.S.C. Sec. 11434a), at the time that they apply for enrollment or at any time during the school year, and to pupils who are identified by the program as being in foster care.  Second priority for enrollment will be given to students who can attend the full day every day.
