Program Enrollment Requirements:
The KCNS Online Teacher Induction Program serves all teachers with Preliminary California Teaching Credentials (General Education – Single Subject, General Education – Multiple Subject, Education Specialist – Mild/Moderate, and/or Education Specialist – Moderate/Severe), teachers with existing Clear California Credentials, and out-of-state teachers who are new to California. It is our commitment to welcome, support, and clear credentials for individuals without regard to race, religious creed, color, national origin, ancestry, physical disability, medical condition, genetic information, marital status, sex, sexual orientation, pregnancy, childbirth, gender identity, gender expression, age, or military/veteran status, in accordance with all applicable California and Federal Laws.
This program was designed to begin in an educator’s first year of employment in California. We also welcome educators who are transferring in from other California Induction Programs. Credit will be given for previous induction work upon receipt of the transportability document from the prior program.
The KCNS Online Teacher Induction Program is now open to all California Educators. You do not need to be a KCNS employee to enroll.
Tuition for Non-KCNS Employees:
$2,500 per candidate per year*
*Candidate must be presently employed and working with a consistent group of students throughout the school year.

The Induction Candidate will:
- Commit to working alongside his or her assigned mentor for two years;
- Co-create and continuously update an Individual Learning Plan;
- Co-assess teaching practice using multiple sources of evidence, revising goals as appropriate;
- Self-Assess teaching practice and set professional goals;
- Plan standards-based lessons, using English Language Development Standards, Differentiated Instruction, and 21st Century Skills;
- Effectively analyze student work;
- Observe, examine data, and reflect on teaching and learning;
- Learn about the school, family, and community resources to support student success;
- Celebrate successes and continually build on teaching practice.
The Mentor will:
- Commit to working alongside his or her assigned induction candidate for two years;
- Build a trusting relationship with his or her candidate;
- Meet a minimum of one hour per week to collaborate, design lessons, observe lessons, set goals, analyze student work/data, work on ILP, and complete all other program requirements;
- Reflect on his or her own practice as an effective mentor;
- Encourage and assist his or her candidate to connect with and become part of the larger professional learning community;
- Make a difference in shaping and developing a new teacher!
Annual Participation Requirements*
- 28 hours of mentor support (average of at least 1 hour per week over 28 weeks)
- 4 hours of Induction Workshops (2 Workshops/2 hours each)
- 4 hours of Individual Learning Plan Workshops (2 Workshops/2 hours each)
- 8 Informal Observations
- 2 Formal Observations
- Co-creation and completion of the Individual Learning Plan
- Complete maintenance of ePortfolio
NOTE: This is a Two-Year Program. There is an Early Completion Option available for eligible Participating Teachers.
